Rebecca's (Belated) Birthday Party...

Rebecca had a belated 9th birthday party in January. (Her birthday is in December.) We had her party at the ATA Martial Arts studio here in The Woodlands.

She also got to wear her black belt that day.

Mrs. Woodard taught the kids some basic punches and kicks, played some games, and taught them some self defense.

Here is a video of the self defense technique.

Instead of presents, she asked her guests to bring donations for the StoneBridge Food Pantry. She had a great time with her friends, and was able to collect a good amount of donations, too. We were so proud of her.

Taekwando Update...

It's been a busy few months in taekwando. Back in November Rebecca started going to the advanced class, but before she did that she took one last beginner class. In the class that day was Rebecca's friend Caroline who was just starting out

Also in November, the school celebrated their third anniversary. Senior Master Berry celebrated by doing a blind board break.

In November I also started taking classes. I set a goal to get my orange belt by Christmas. I earned it on Decmber 22. Here I am with Coach Woodard. (She earned her black belt in January.)

In January, Rebecca earned her purple belt.

Since then, things have slowed down for me. Mrs. Woodard had to move back to Nebraska, and the morning class was canceled. I guess my martial arts days are over for now...

Christmas Lights & Ice Skating...

Over the weekend we took the girls to do some fun Christmas stuff. On December 11, we drove around and looked at Christmas Lights in some of the neighborhoods here in The Woodlands. We found one neighborhood decorated like Whoville.

Another neighborhood had cactuses.

On December 13, we took the girls ice skating. The girls had fun, but my ankles were so sore afterwards!

We had a fun weekend with the girls and we look forward to doing it again next year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALLEN!

I didn't want this day to go by without saying "Happy Birthday" to my sweet husband. You're 42 years young, baby!

Buckalew Choir Perfomance...

Rebecca has been singing in the Buckalew Choir this year. About 70 third & fourth graders stay after school for rehearsal on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Their first performance for the year was Thursday night, November 5. The video quality is not great but here is a video of them singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" by Handel.

Rebecca's Puppet Project...

At the end of September, Rebecca had a puppet project due. She had to create an award for one of the characters in a book she had read, then present the award to the puppet. She chose Nancy Drew from the book "The Mysterious Letter." Here is a video I took of her practicing her presentation.

Happy Halloween...

Rebecca and Kathryn had a busy week leading up to Halloween. On October 28, Kathryn got to dress up for dance class. She went as Ladybug Girl from her favorite book. The class also did a short routine to "Thriller."

On Friday, October 30, Kathryn had 5 Senses Day in Kindergarten...

...and Rebecca had The Great Pumpkin Caper in 3rd Grade. I volunteered to help that day. First the students weighed a pumpkin, found out if it floated, took its circumference measure, and counted the lines on it. Then we gutted it and counted the seeds. That was fun!

Halloween night we trick or treated with some of the neighbors. We also had a friend from church, Cassie, join us. The girls had a lot of fun that weekend.
