March 11, 2011 we had to say good-bye to our sweet Blue Dog. She was a faithful companion for twelve years, and will be awfully missed...
We had been watching her slow down for months. You could see in her eyes that she was so tired, but she kept going for us. We made the decision last Monday that it was time to help her let go. We told the girls on Wednesday night.
After we told the girls, I asked each of them to write her a letter. Here are their letters to Blue.
Rebecca also wrote a poem at school. She had an assignment to write a limerick on Friday, and she chose to write about Blue.
We spent the week loving on her, then took her to our vet for the final good-bye on Friday night.
Now you are at peace, old girl. We love you and will miss you very much...
