Hurricane Ike videos

Well, it's been a month since Hurricane Ike came through south Texas. Even though we are about 100 miles from the Gulf, we still felt the effects of the storm. I stayed awake into the wee hours, sending IM messages to my friend in England, and e-mails to family. Around 3:30am I brought the girls downstairs to sleep in the hallway. At 5:30, I finally gave into exhaustion and fell asleep.

We awoke the next morning to no electricity, and it was still raining and windy. But we had survived the night, and we were blessed to not have any damage to our house. I took the following videos first thing in the morning.

(video taken September 13, a little before 8:00am)

After I took the first video in the front yard, I went to the back yard and took the video of the pine trees.

Happy Anniversary....

Allen & I celebrated our 17th anniversary tonight. We enjoyed dinner with our girls at Cheesecake Factory. God has truly blessed me with my dear husband. I can't imagine what the last 20 years would have been like without him in my life. I love you, my sweet Allen. Forever, Always, Eternally...I love you.

Our Butterfly Fairy Singing, Cheerleading, Sword Swinging, Baseball Playing, Princess

Yesterday, Kathryn decided to put on another one of her shows. This time it was a solo performance. She called herself a "Fairy Singing, Baseball Playing, Pirate Fighting, Princess Cheerleader." You gotta love 4 year olds. She also sang an original composition written by Rebecca & her called "Hopping Bunny"
Hopping bunny, hopping bunny, do your thing.
Hopping bunny, hopping bunny, do your thing.
You like to hop, hop, hop.
Hopping bunny, hopping bunny, do your thing.
Hopping bunny, hopping bunny,
Hopping bunny, hopping bunny, do your thing.
Oh, how I love bunnies.

I am thinking a number one chart topper, what about you?

Bluebonnets 2007

This is actually a movie/video that I made a year ago. When I discovered that I had Windows Movie Maker on my laptop, I wanted to try it out. I used the pictures from our trip to see the bluebonnets in Brenham in March 2007. I had more fun playing with the transitions and special effects. I am sure there are better, more professional programs out there, but I thought I did pretty good for a first try. Enjoy!

Alphabet Painting...

I finally finished the painting I have been working on for Rebecca's first grade teacher. Jodi Ramirez was a fantastic teacher, and Rebecca had a great first year at Buckalew because of her.

As a gift from me, I painted a 3' X 4' alphabet canvas. I used the handprints of each of the students, as well as Mrs. Ramirez, the two room moms, one of the volunteers, and myself. Each handprint was made into an animal representing each letter of the alphabet.

I did a similar project for Kathryn's school art show back in February. I was able to use handprints and footprints for that one.

Ballerina Kathryn

Last week Rebecca & Kathryn decided to put on a "show" for us, something they enjoy doing quite often. Among Rebecca's many hats she wears during one of their "shows"are director, producer, sound tech, and performer. Kathryn is primarily a performer. This particular day Kathryn decided to show off some of her ballet skills she learned this past spring in ballet class at the YMCA. The sound quality is not great because I was too far away from the sound source, but you can still enjoy our little ballerina.

Kathryn also did a second performance that day as a flower fairy. This one is a bit long, but she is quite the dramatic interpreter.

Mamma Mia

Tonight I saw Mamma Mia for the second time in a week. I enjoyed it as much, if not more than, the first time I saw it. Probably because of the group of ladies I saw it with - Christine, Whitney, Alyssa, Mindy & Becky. What a fun night we had. We sang, we laughed, and yes, we even danced.

"You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life. Ooh see that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen."

Best Friends

Last night, my best friend moved to London, England for three years. She found out she was moving on my birthday. What a great (heavy sarcasm here) birthday present for me. :-/ I have had a very hard time since we found out she was moving, but I am so proud of how Lisa handled the past three months. She held it together so well, and stayed strong for her children. I really admired her strength. That's not to say she didn't have her moments of tears. We have been friends for only a short ten years, but it feels like we've known each other forever. She is the other half of my brain, my shoulder to cry on and to laugh with, the "saver of my cheese," and I am going to miss her very much.

First Blog...

Hello, and welcome to the blog of Clan McNight. This is my first attempt at blogging. I am not sure if I will be very good, or even consistent with it, but I will certainly try. I hope for this to be a place to share with family and friends and to keep you updated on our crazy life here in Texas. Then again, knowing me, I am a master at starting many projects, but never finishing them...

Anyway, welcome to our family's blog and enjoy.
